TOUGHLOVE is a not for profit educational organisation that offers a loving solution to families that are being torn apart by unacceptable adolescent type behaviour. It was founded by Phyllis and David York in 1972, and is an action based programme run by parents for parents. Parents join local TOUGHLOVE support groups because they are concerned about their young people. Members gain practical and emotional peer support as well as being encouraged to try doing things differently. They work together to build a network of support that is non blaming and non judgemental which becomes an extended family. People who have benefited from the TOUGHLOVE programme stay on and help other parents coming into the group to overcome their challenges.

The TOUGHLOVE philosophy and practice work for all ages and in all areas of life.TOUGHLOVE programmes ultimately help our communities become safer happier places to live.
